Overview

This comprehensive project involved the overhaul of five factory units, each demanding meticulous attention to detail. particularly due to the presence of asbestos in the existing structures. The initial phase involved safely removing all existing asbestos roofing, adhering to strict safety protocols and specialised equipment.

Innovation

Kingsley Industrial Roofing installed a new roofing system, incorporating a metal over roof system over the existing asbestos, which covered an extensive area of 1450 m2. The system featured Brett Martin Class 1 GRP 2.4kg m2 inner rooflights and Class 3 GRP 3.6kg m2 Super Safe outer rooflights, along with the robust Ashgrid Support system and 260mm Knauf Factory Clad 40 insulation. The Firth Steels F200 N1000R metal profile sheets were selected for their durability and weather resistance, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and longevity of the factory units, backed by a 30-year outer coating manufacture warranty.

Solutions

A important aspect of the project was the integration of new rooflights, designed to optimise natural light within the factories, reducing energy costs and improving the work environment.
The final phase of the project involved installing composite roofing on strapped concrete purlins, using 1.6 galvanised steel channels stainless steel strapped to existing concrete purlins and Tata Trisomet 120mm Composite roof, alongside Brett Martin triple FAIRS rooflights, covering an additional 190 m2. This approach reinforced the structural integrity of the roofing system, while Trimline gutters and downpipes were installed for efficient water management.
